South American Memories
In the last year I’ve gotten into a habit of mainly posting my one-off drawings and paintings to Instagram, reserving this website for completed comics or comics-related announcements. I have just now realized, however, that as a result of this … Continue reading

Crayola Fall Sketches
I haven’t been posting much new work these last couple of months, mostly because I’ve been teaching at four different school this semester and have had time for little else (I have, however, been doing a fair bit of doodling, … Continue reading

This past weekend I participated in YAS! (SYMPO! in French), the Youth Art Symposium organized by the Ottawa Art Gallery. Spearheaded by the brilliant and indefatigable OAG Youth and Educational Programs Coordinator Alexis Boyle, YAS! 2017 was aimed at bringing … Continue reading

On my way back from Silchar, India, where I participated in the Anuvad Arts Festival (more on that to follow), I had an 8-hour layover at Indira Gandhi International airport in Delhi, where I read the poems of Rabindranath Tagore … Continue reading

White on Black Sketch #3 – “Thinking of You” (Shiudiao Getou) II
In honour of the first full moon of 2017 (and the last of the Year of the Monkey), here is another white-gouache-on-black-paper sketch inspired by “Shiudiao Getou,” a famous poem by the 11th-century Chinese poet Su Shi (or Su Tungpo). … Continue reading

White on Black Sketch #1

Experimentation with white on black drawing
In an effort to imitate the great early twentieth-century wood engravings by such artists as Lynd Ward, but without having to figure out how to do actual wood engravings, I thought I would try my hand at drawing on black … Continue reading
