Le bateau ivre – Arthur Rimbaud

    • Thanks! I’d be most honoured if you were to provide your students with such a link. I’m a little embarassed to say that I don’t even know who the translation is by. It’s a copyright-free translation from before 1935 that was given to me by the editor of “The Graphic Canon”. I have to say though, I rather like it, in that it is the only translation I have come across that preserves the original rhyme scheme. The adolescent fieriness of the original is lost, to be sure, but this version has its own more staid musicality that I have come to appreciate.
